1. Don't Quit Your Day Job 2 is awesome, I finally got a chance to sit down and watch it all the way through. It's the kind of video that makes you want to ride, bad. And Ox has a cameo in it. Rad!
2. Lotek is now making Vans. Just kidding, but they did realease pictures of their shoes that will be out in time for spring, which you've probably already seen all over the internerd. Here they are again for your viewing pleasure. Slimmed down shoes with vulcanized soles and lower prices, plus a couple of new colors in the Nightwolf. According to Rich Hirsch, this is the last time Lotek is going to make a real leather shoe. Let us know which ones you guys want to see us carry, we are going to be ordering a bunch of them soon.
Thanks for reading!
We also got in more Animal grips, pedals, seat clamps, tee shirts, pivotal posts, etc etc...
Also got in some purple Shadow Conspiracy triple-butted stainless steel spokes. For those of you that may not know, what that means is the spoke is thin in the middle, and thicker on the ends. Triple butted spokes are made for several reasons: the thinner middle section shaves off a tiny amount of weight and also allows the spokes to be a little more elastic (in other words it allows the wheel to give slightly more during an impact, allowing the whole wheel to absorb the impact rather than just one section)... the ends are thicker obviously for strength and to hold up to grinding, and the end that goes into the hub fits tighter in the spoke hole than a regular spoke so it won't fatigue as quickly.
Personally, I'm not so sure that all that stuff is going to make a huge difference on a BMX wheel because the spokes are much shorter than those found on road bikes/mountain bikes... basically I got these spokes because they are purple, and we've never had purple spokes before. Also, they are Ion plated instead of powder coated, which is supposed to hold up better. There you have it.
Oh, and for those of you who don't already know, MSC Skatepark in Shrewsbury has reopened under a new name and I believe new owners... check them out at www.SubliminalSkatepark.com... the setup doesn't look quite as good, but hey, it's somewhere to ride in the winter...
We should have some more good stuff coming in soon, I'll keep you posted...
